I have heard this song before I seen the video so when I hit the play button I so excited to hear it and bob my head. Once it got mid song the video brought out some different emotions, then once it got to the end of the song it brought out some even stronger emotions. I quit bobbing my head and actually started crying. I am a very emotional person so this is not unusual for me, but it did catch me off guard.

Living in Colorado we are no strangers to suicide we rank number 6 on the list of most suicides in the United States. I personally knew 3 people that committed suicide and about 5 more people that were family of family and friends of my family, so it really hit home.
Suicide is nothing new it has been going on since the beginning of time. My cousins cousin committed suicide back in the 90's because of her weight it had nothing to do with sexuality she was being teased because of her size and she felt this was the only way out and she took her own life.
I had a friend in the early 2000's that had just proposed to his long time girlfriend and they had a son we had just seen them in the mall shopping. Within months he decided he didn't want to live anymore and he took his own life with a gun.
This is just a couple of the many stories of suicide I could tell.

When I got engaged I went out on a search for the perfect shoes... other women run out and go dress shopping, but not me the shoe lover ....all I thought about was what shoes I would wear.

Yes, the shoes were more important than the dress,...
I watched Four Weddings (the show on TLC) and I watch this woman bedazzled a pair of shoes and I fell in love with that lady. I thought to myself, that is my type of woman and if she wasn't getting married, I would marry her and her sparkily shoes...lol

I wanted some so bad and it must have been meant to be because on one random lunch break at work, I manage to stumble upon some little stickable gems in Big Lots... (I brought every single pack in the color pink I could, thank God they have no limit on buying up items and not sharing..lol)

I held onto those gems for about 3 months until I was able to find the perfect shoes...

One day while in Ross with my fiance, there they were... a swee pair of Doll House pumps made for sparkle heaven and begging to be taken there.

So here they are the before and the work and progress of them...
(I am thinking about doing the heels as well...what do you guys think...should I do it?)

I would love to do a purse in this type of style all sparkily and whatnot...

I will be on a search for more gems as my collection is low due to them all going on my shoes as that was the plan to begin with.

Did you know that every nine-and-a-half minutes, someone in the United States is infected with HIV? Since 1981, more than 25 million people worldwide have died from AIDS. More than 33 million people around the world are currently living with HIV/AIDS; Nearly 20,000 of those people are in Colorado.

On Saturday, August 14, 2010, VCD will be joining the fight against HIV & AIDS by participating in the 23rd annual AIDS Walk Colorado - the largest one-day AIDS-related fundraiser in the Rocky Mountain Region. Today, new treatments are available that have decreased the number of AIDS-related deaths from years past. Unfortunately, people are still being infected with the virus everyday. Therefore, I’m asking you to sponsor us in raising much-needed funds to help prevent new HIV infections in Colorado and provide for people living with HIV/AIDS.

Stepping into the 90's

Happy Monday lovely friends and fans of Vintage Clutch Divas,

well we know the title is misleading as for the year is now 2010 and we've past the last year of the 90's eleven years ago...:) but if you must know, be aware that the 90's have been slowing gaining speed in a rebirth just like any decade does. The 70's emerged in the 90's and just recently the 80's was all the crave...so don't do a double take if you notice a lot of airbrush and leather mixed with denim floating around...it is the newer generation getting in touch with the past...always happens with the youth right? any whoos...

If you happen to stumble upon our blog by a way of error, please stay and welcome to your first blogging experience with VCD - just a side note the 1/2 in Cali does mostly all the blogging (...just a warning ....it can be a wild ride).

Since it is the new year, one of our new year's resolution happens to be for us to become more active in our blogging efforts. All that goodie goodie fashion knowledge we have stored up over the years seems as if it is going to waste, (this is half fictional as even though we don't blog it as much as we like... we do like to voice it in other areas). But we figure why not start an attempt to blog about it, we have this fancy blog here, sometimes we play games of how to wear something...and we want to continue that fun.

One thing we could blog about is that we like sales, we have fashion tips and ways to save money...Oh my. (I think I personally myself, the 1/2 Cali version of VCD gets excited just thinking about it.) Then again it could be because I am a shopping whore. I can pretty much find a reason to shop anytime and anywhere, just like the Janet Jackson song. Yes and just like the Ms. Jackson, I don't care who's around, if it is meant to be brought, I am buying it. My motto if it isn't in my size but someone else, I'll buy it for them as I am a good shopping friend and know the shopping rules of a sale, if it is a good deal and it is in your friend's size buy it for them, they will thank you for it. :)

Just two days ago I brought a few lovely pairs of shoes from Tar-jay for the other half of VCD in Denver (that’s how us shopping connoisseur pronounce Target - very bourgeois-like). Sad thing is I only went to Tar-jay to begin with to get some hair care supplies, talk about being lucky (depending on how you view it, some people call it a problem but I call them the fashion challenged).

So since it is a new year - question...what would you guys like to hear us blog about this year as we will attempt to do more of flexing our blogging skills...

*Please note that any request to blog about celebrity fashion will not happen....as 1/2 of VCD isn't that big into caring about the lives of celebs and does not condone their tackiness and lack of style on anyone...a majority of them just spread bad fashion that the fashion challenged world follow and start to wear, which explains the high levels of women in uggh boots in 90 degree weather, the exception to the rule is if we are using celebs as an example (sometimes we must discuss their taste though... just as there as some celebs who fashion sense I just adore, they truly rock ...but most of them don't...just my opinion)*

VCD walks the walk and talks the talk

So on August 15th, VCD along with our team particpated in the AIDS walk Colorado, it was a great day and we were happy to be a part of something so positive. Our team raised $365 dollars, each person who attended with us received a VCD little tote perfect for carrying lunch to work, an AIDS walk button and a water bottle. We had lots of fun and we want to thank those who walked and supported us... you guys Rocked!!!!

In other news...VCD is now gearing up for the month of september...we are being showcase at Fashion Denver. Along with us being feature, there will also be other talented designers with original pieces from dresses to jewerly and even belts...things that would make any true shopper feel like Christmas time in late summer.

So when it comes to doing the purses.... I have fun, it is like my relaxing point...as it gives me a chance to add my own flare...

sometimes I know exactly what I am going to do with a purse and then there are other times when I start something and leave it unsure of where it goes or how it will look...sometimes I do things and think it is complete but then I'm like yuck...I'm wishy washy about what I started...so I leave it and by the grace of God he always shows me what to do next...

for example this purse...

I knew exactly off the top of my head how I wanted it to look...and I like it as it is...I think it represents me for sure...the fabric and sequins..I love to add textures....lol. While Heather the artist is more into painting and displaying her fine skills at art.

But this purse....I picked it up and really didn't have an ideal of what to do. So then I started to put the rose and the word "love" on it...decided to add the peace symbol... and just left it and it felt undone but I didn't know what else to do...but I ended up finding this fabric from a long time ago that I brought and loved to death (I tend to buy fabric randomly when I take trips to Joanne and Hobby Lobby...I always feel like you need to keep fabric around just in case...)

so now I'm ready to complete it....I think it makes for a good purse to carry to work, throw your lunch inside along with your book that you take to read on the bus... (just my thoughts)...

so you are probably wondering what I will get from mixing this

Hello this is our first and very blog Presenting.....(tada!!!)

Vintage Clutch Divas

We specialize in re-vamping and re-creating all things beautiful according to clutches. (Or so we like to think and believe and yeah we do believe it...you gotta be confident in what you do right?)

So let us tell you a little about us:

We are two sister and we are each others best friends -

Heather is currently enrolled at MSCD (Metro State College of Denver): She is an artist and a mother of 1 beautiful boy. These are her two passion, raising a son and creating beauty.

Januari is an accounting clerk for a Law Frim: Although she has a love for numbers and computers she is also a poet. Plus she enjoys blogging and poetry during her spare time.

Our purpose for creating VCD - Vintage Clutch Divas is because we love to design and be creatative and express our artistic side. So what we do is take vintage purses and give them a unique style. Currently we are in the process of creating a few but thought we'd kick off the blog early for anticipation. I will post for viewing some of the purses as a sneak preview of what we are working on...(I will try once or twice a week).

here is a preview of one of the purses...(this was designed by me...) I'm more of a gap classic style girl and I like to use a lot of lines and fabrics... (the picture was taken on my camera phone...) Please exscue the crappiness of quality in the picture but the purse rocks *at least I think so :)*

All purses are for and will be for sale...we are in the process of setting up a paypal site...but everything is under current construction so we'll keep you all posted later for future update.
